Monthly NJ and NYC Outings - Day Trips

There is much to discover in New Jersey and New York and we keep our members on the move with trips to stunning parks like the New York Botanical Gardens, Grounds for Sculpture and The Cloisters, to name just a few. We organize visits to museums, walks through historic towns and lunchtime music renditions. Our New York City trips have included tours of NBC Studios, food tours in trendy neighborhoods and art exhibits in the vibrant city.

RUTGERS GARDENS

Rutgers Gardens Monday, October 19 10 am Rutgers Gardens is one of the few botanical gardens that does not charge an admission fee and is open 365 days a year. On May 17, 2016, which seems like only yesterday, Rutgers Gardens celebrated its Centennial Anniversary. It celebrated the date when Jacob and Cecilia Lipman purchased the 35.7 acre Wolpart Farm and sold it to the University for $1.00. Rutgers Gardens is a 180-acre botanic garden, consisting of designed gardens, farms, plant collections, natural habitats, and a farmers market (Friday). The Rutgers Garden serves as a living laboratory for faculty and staff to better serve plant science research, landscape architecture, and the nursery and public horticulture industry. In October we will enjoy this ‘Living Museum’ with its large array of gardens and plant collection.
