February has been a long month for me, despite it being the shortest month of the year! This winter has been harsh and cold, so while we wait for the snow and ice to melt, we can look forward to the month of March and the awakening season of Spring! March 20 is the Spring Equinox, when the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world. After that we can enjoy the increasing sunlight hours, with earlier dawns and later sunsets.
I personally love all the seasons and all the differences and variety each of them brings but the season of Spring nudges my senses and fills me with awe as nature re-awakens and blooms. Right now, we are shrouded in white and the colors of spring are something to look forward to.
Our March Coffee Morning will help with this as presenter Laura Claire from the same name florist in Bernardsville will join us over Zoom to demonstrate floral arranging, and how to make beautiful arrangements with colorful, seasonal flowers. It will be lovely to have some color brought into our lives so please join us for what will be an informative and fun presentation.
March is also a time of many international festivals including Holi, a Hindu spring festival of love and colors; the Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossom)festival begins at the end of March, St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 and March 8 is International Women’s Day! So, a day to celebrate ourselves. International Women’s Day, marked annually on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women!
Meanwhile, as Winter runs its course, stay safe and warm, and I look forward to seeing you at our virtual Coffee Morning (check the Coffee Morning page for the Zoom link to join), or at any other of our wonderful activities be they virtual or in-person!
